Privacy Policy
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how ClaimDuke ("ClaimDuke," "we," "us," or "our"), a product of Sprint Build Group, collects, uses and protects information when you use claimduke.com (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
ClaimDuke's calculators run entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter into a calculator are not transmitted to or stored on our servers; they stay on your device and are used only to generate the on-screen results and any report (Excel, Word or PDF) you choose to export.
We may collect limited information automatically or that you provide directly, including:
- Payment and billing information: if you purchase a single report or a subscription, payment is processed by a third-party payment processor. We do not store your full card number.
- Contact information: such as your email address, if you reach out to us for support.
- Usage and device data: such as browser type, general location and pages visited, collected automatically via standard web technologies.
- Cookies and similar technologies: used for site functionality and by advertising partners as described below.
Document Import ("Smart Import")
Some calculators offer an optional "Import from a file" feature that reads a spreadsheet or document you select, such as an Excel workbook, CSV, PDF, or Word file and, as described below, scanned documents and photos and tries to fill in matching calculator fields for you. This feature is built so that your file never leaves your device: it is read and processed entirely by your browser, in memory and is never sent to, received by, or stored on ClaimDuke's servers or any third party. We have no access to the file's contents and once you close or navigate away from the page, nothing from it remains anywhere but your own computer.
This matters most because these files often contain sensitive business information: your own figures as well as those of your clients, subcontractors, or counterparties. Keeping that information on your device, rather than transmitting it anywhere, is a deliberate design choice, not a byproduct: we built Smart Import this way specifically so you can use it on confidential project records without creating a new copy of that data outside your control.
Smart Import also supports scanned documents, image-based PDFs and photographs of forms (JPG/PNG) using an in-browser optical character recognition (OCR) process; this, too, runs entirely on your device using WebAssembly, with no image ever transmitted anywhere. OCR is inherently less reliable than reading a real spreadsheet or text file: results can be affected by handwriting, image quality, lighting and skewed or rotated photos. Any value read this way is clearly labeled as OCR-derived so you know to check it more carefully.
Smart Import makes a best-effort match between the labels in your file and the calculator's fields; it is not guaranteed to find or correctly interpret every value. Fields it fills in are highlighted so you can review them and it will tell you plainly when it can't confidently match something rather than guessing silently. You remain responsible for checking that every imported value is correct before relying on it.
Advertising & Cookies
The home page, the pricing page and the calculator pages do not display third-party advertising. Other pages of the Site, such as the state rules pages, may display advertising, as described below.
Where advertising is shown, it is served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
The Site is intended for visitors in the United States. On any page that serves advertising, a cookie banner is shown on your first visit, with two clear choices: "Accept All" (essential cookies plus the optional analytics/advertising cookies described above) or "Reject Non-Essential" (essential cookies only, no AdSense advertising cookies are set). You can change this choice at any time using the "Your Privacy Choices" link in the site footer. If your browser or a browser extension sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat that as an automatic opt-out request and never load advertising cookies for that visit, without requiring you to click anything.
You may also opt out of personalized advertising directly with Google by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of other third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices.
Analytics
The Site uses Google Analytics 4 to measure how pages are found and used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are located, which device and browser they use, plus which page led them to the next. This is aggregate measurement, not identification. We do not use it to build advertising profiles and we do not upload any figures you enter into a calculator, which never leave your device in the first place.
Analytics runs under the same consent choice as advertising. If you choose "Reject Non-Essential", or if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, analytics storage is set to denied before any Google script loads, so no analytics cookie is set for that visit. Changing your choice through the "Your Privacy Choices" link in the footer applies immediately, not on your next visit.
One point worth stating plainly. When analytics storage is denied, Google's measurement script still loads and still sends a basic, cookieless signal for the page view, which Google uses for modelled, aggregate reporting. That signal carries the page address, the referring page and general device information. Google derives an approximate location from the network address before discarding it. Nothing is written to your device, nothing identifies you personally, plus the signal cannot be tied to a return visit. If you prefer to send nothing at all, blocking googletagmanager.com in your browser or an extension prevents it entirely. The Site works normally without it.
Google describes its own handling of this data at How Google uses information from sites that use our services.
How We Use Information
We use the limited information we collect to operate and improve the Site, process payments, respond to support requests, comply with legal obligations and, on any page that serves advertising, to serve relevant advertising. We do not sell your personal information.
Email Capture & Communications
We ask for an email address at three points on this Site: downloading a calculation as a PDF from any calculator, the free State Reference full-detail unlock and the free one-page summary report download. In each case we collect only the email address you provide, along with which feature it was requested from and the date. All three use the same two checkboxes, neither pre-checked for you: (1) a required box consenting to us storing your email address so the download or unlock can be released and (2) a separate, optional box to also receive occasional ClaimDuke product updates. All three are recorded once per browser, so you are not asked again.
Your reports are generated in your browser and delivered as a direct download; we do not email them to you. Aside from a sign-in link if you subscribe and any product updates you opt into with the second box, we do not send you email at all. Leaving that second box unchecked means you will receive no marketing email from us.
We do not sell, rent, or share this email address with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Every marketing email we send includes a working, one-click unsubscribe link and you may unsubscribe or request deletion of this information at any time using that link or by contacting us directly (see the Contact Us tab). We retain the email address only until you unsubscribe or request deletion, or for a reasonable period of inactivity, whichever comes first.
Data Retention & Security
The figures you type into a calculator are processed in your browser and are never transmitted to our servers, so we do not retain your calculation data at all: reports are generated in your browser and downloaded directly to your device. We do record which calculator you used, which governing state you selected and which step you reached (opened, calculated, started checkout), so we can see where the Site is or is not working; that record contains no figures you entered. Billing and support records are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for accounting, legal and customer-service purposes.
Your Rights (California: CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the CCPA (as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, to request access to or deletion of it, to correct inaccurate information and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, which, under California's broad definition, can include the advertising cookies described above. On any page that serves advertising, you can exercise that opt-out at any time using the "Your Privacy Choices" link in the site footer, which reopens the cookie banner, or your browser's Global Privacy Control setting, which we honor automatically. To exercise your other rights, contact us using the details in the Contact Us tab. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of visitors under 16 years of age.
Age Restriction & Eligibility to Use the Site
ClaimDuke is a professional tool built for contractors, claims consultants, attorneys, adjusters and other business users and is not directed to or intended for use by children. The Site is not designed, marketed, or suitable for minors.
By accessing or using the Site, you represent and confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, or the age of legal majority in your country, state, or jurisdiction, whichever is older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children and if we become aware that we have inadvertently done so, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
